چکیده

Design students use a variety of physical and digital content in the course of their studies. Augmented paper interactions promise to address this tension, yet there have been few real-world evaluations of these systems. In this paper, we present results from the first longitudinal study of augmented paper interactions for student design teams. We describe our experiences with developing and deploying the iDeas learning ecology, a system that integrates digital pens and cameras into design practice. Across two quarter-long studies, fifty-eight design students used iDeas, authoring over 4,000 pages of content in the course of their classwork. We report on their design habits, the when, what and how of their notebook usage, and pinpoint further avenues of study, including device ensembles. Through observation and analysis, we discovered that integrated paper and digital interactions enable new practices, including the ability to instrument and study design activity itself. We then observe limitations of current form factor and maintenance that inhibit longitudinal use. We conclude by identifying guidelines for development and potential directions for future research into hybrid technology systems for creative work. Figure 1. Design teams in action. A Methodology for Generating Artificial Event Logs to Compare Process Discovery Techniques

Past research revealed issues with artificial event data used for comparative analysis of process mining algorithms. The aim of this research is to design, implement and validate a framework for producing artificial event logs which should increase discriminatory power of artificial event logs when evaluating process discovery techniques.

Synoptic: Summarizing System Logs with Refinement

Distributed systems are often difficult to debug and understand. A typical way of gaining insight into system behavior is by inspecting execution logs. However, manual inspection of logs is an arduous process. To support this task we developed Synoptic. Synoptic outputs a concise graph representation of logged events that captures temporal invariants mined from the log. We applied Synoptic to s...

Paradigm and Architecture of Computing Augmented Learning Management System for Computer Science Education

Literature suggests that existing learning management systems should be extended to integrate learning activities that aim at enhancing comprehension of students in Computer Science education. Therefore, literature has proposed Computing Augmented Learning Management System (CALMS) that meets the needs of online Computer Science education. However, it’s unclear the current state of architecture...

مقایسه وبلاگ های کتابخانه ها و کتابداران ایرانی با وبلاگ های برتر کتابداری؛1385

Introduction: Web logs are the evident tools for the librarians. There are three main ways for applying web logs in librarianship fields, as follows: personal use by librarian to upgrade their personal information, as a source of information in case of libraries, and for their services. The aim of this research is to comparison between Iranian libraries and librarians, and superior librarianshi...
